A one-ton car, only four tires are in contact with the ground and provide safety during driving. If something goes wrong, wouldn’t it be a dead end? So, should you know that you should pay attention to tire maintenance and replacement, right?
Many people enjoy buying new shoes, but they usually don’t care about car shoes—tires. Imagine that a one-ton and multiple-sized car can only rely on four palm-sized areas to contact the ground and provide safety during driving. If something goes wrong, wouldn’t it be a dead end? Such warnings are enough to lift your “appetite” for tires. So, when the tire is about to “end of life”, how do we change tires scientifically and reasonably?
Seize the best time to change tires
Optimistic about the shelf life of tires: There will be four digits on the sidewall of the tire to indicate the date of manufacture of the tire, the first two digits represent the number of weeks, and the last two digits represent the year. Generally, the use of tires should not exceed 3 years, and the mileage should not exceed 60,000 kilometers. Although a little more than the age and mileage will not affect the overall situation, the low temperature in winter and the rain in summer will make the tire’s wet grip and dry ground handling “stretched”.
Pay more attention to the sidewall: As the tire rubber gradually ages, deep lines will appear on the sidewall of the tire. But as long as the sidewall of the tire is not hit and the cord is not broken, it can continue to be used. The triangular mark on the sidewall of the tire can help the owner find a protrusion in the groove of the tire crown, which can determine the actual wear limit of the tire. That value should be greater than 1.6 mm.
Choose the right tire
Car tires: can be divided into ordinary car tires, station wagon tires and sports tires. Ordinary car tires will focus on comfort, reduce energy consumption and improve durability; station wagon tires will tend to increase the weight and durability of the tires; sports tires will pay more attention to handling performance.
Off-road tires: can be divided into high-speed tires, mud tires and composite tires. High-speed tires are suitable for running on paved roads, but the supporting force of the sidewalls is slightly weak; mud tires have a deeper pattern and are suitable for running on non-paved roads, but the fuel consumption of the vehicle will be slightly higher; comprehensive tires have the advantages of both, remove Both have shortcomings, but they both made concessions.
Change tires according to usage
If you are choosing tires for ordinary family cars, you can consider Michelin’s EnergyXM1, BridgestoneTURANZATR80 or GoodyearEAGLENCT5, which are three types of tires that emphasize road comfort.
If you are changing tires for off-road vehicles, we recommend BBLC A/T tires, which take into account the comfort of road driving and the handling of non-paved roads.
The five major “utilitarians” of changing tires
Maneuverability: First of all, tire grip is the *basic factor to ensure that the vehicle does not lose control. You may question that we don’t need to drive the vehicle to the limit in daily driving. What is the point of talking about the grip of tires? Its greatest significance is that it will not lose control during emergency avoidance of obstacles.
Fuel-saving: Excellent tires can bring better fuel-saving effects, such as Michelin’s ENERGY series, the fuel-saving effect is about 5% better than ordinary tires. Even if the actual fuel saving effect is calculated at 2%, the fuel saved by the three-year service life is more than the value of the tire.
Comfort: Many users who change Michelin tires for the first time feel that the tire pressure is insufficient. In fact, the tire is indeed at standard tire pressure, but it is more comfortable.
Noise control: Most of the road noise of vehicles comes from the noise produced by tires contacting the road surface. For tires, the tread pattern and rubber formula are the key to reducing noise, and high-quality tires can reduce noise accordingly.
Durability: The durability of the tire determines the mileage of the tire, and the difference in the mileage of different types of tires can reach more than 2 times. Of course, wear-resistant tires are generally harder, and there will be some trade-offs between grip and comfort.
